Th 40 hour Jammin was created by violinist and composer Shenzo Gregorio in response to his mother contracting Motor Neurone Disease in March of 2017. Feeling a sense of wanting to help those who have this crippling disease Shenzo pitched the idea to the MND and Me foundation to hold a fundraising event where he would play for 40 hours non stop.
The Brisbane Music scene rallied behind Shenzo's idea and some 50 musicians joined Shenzo towards reaching his goal. In December of 2017 Shenzo's mother lost her battle with the disease and sadly passed away, 13 days after the event. Shenzo then felt more compelled to not only bring awareness to this horrible disease but to also reach his initial goal of $40 000. In April of 2018 the community of Magnetic Island rallied behind his cause and helped produce the 2nd version of the 40 hour jammin. A total of 120 musicians form the region and around Australia rallied once more. By now the idea of a fundraising music festival was born and will now continue indefinitely. The next 40 hour jammin will be back on Magnetic Island from May17-19 2019. For information stay tuned to the website www.the40hourjammin.com or through Facebook and Instagram.
